The siting of the house was based on a few design ideas: (1) the front was centered on a planned circle, (2) the garage was located towards the back of the property, (3) the house was situated to allow the least amount of existing trees to be cut down, and (4) the garage and house form an outdoor court for the screened porch and patio.
The main entertaining spaces of the home are open to each other. The master suite takes advantage of a private garden to the west. The garage, separated from the house by a service wing, helps to form an outdoor court with the house for the exterior entertaining spaces.
